MSP are our retained health and safety and CDM advisors. They initially carried out a GAP Analysis and provided us with a full Health and Safety Management System, which consisted of a Health & Safety Policy, Risk Assessments, Tool Box Talks and various on-site compliance documents.  MSP have been very helpful with all aspects of health and safety and they have guided KDW through an important transition period.

In particular, their help and assistance given to us in gaining our SSiP accreditations, (CHAS and SafeContractor) was invaluable. We were in constant contact with MSP to fully understand everything required. MSP listed and checked all our documents were suitable and sufficient before they were submitted for approval.

MSP have helpful staff who answer the phone quickly and always endeavour to solve any health and safety queries or problems that arise. The staff at MSP are also very knowledgeable.

Training provided to our team by MSP is always tailored to suit our needs and as a niche business (road lining Contractor) this is very helpful. Malcolm conducts a training session with our team, on an annual basis,  which is always interesting and a good team builder.  The Health & Safety Awareness Training Course covers, amongst other topics, Manual Handling, the proper use of PPE, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work, Hand Arm Vibration, Noise Awareness and Dust.

MSP Business Services regularly provide everyone in our company with expert health and safety and CDM advice regarding our responsibilities and how to implement them. We are glad to have progressed through the accreditation procedure. I found it all a bit of an uphill struggle to start with but easier as time went on. I also found understanding different interpretations of what was required a bit difficult at the beginning. However, I found the end stage much more straight forward and the examples you provided and the advice you attached to them was very good to the extent that I was able to complete the final elements in confidence and get a real feel for what was required.
I can understand that this process has been a difficult curve for everyone, knowledge and application for the contractors and sheer volume of work for the Managing agents and yourselves.
The end result I am sure will be a much better understanding and compliance to Health and Safety.

Malcolm Pitcher has carried out several projects for us over a number of months including;

Inductions for several new members of staff into the company with regards to Health & Safety and Human Resources. He covered our manual handling training, slips trips and falls and ensured that all the necessary HR documentation was completed and the staff files were correct, compliant and updated.

Malcolm carried out several investigations regarding members of staff on performance issues. After the initial investigation he drafted letters and advised on the correct disciplinary action to be taken. He was also available to advise at the time of the disciplinary meeting ensuring that we followed the correct procedures.

Malcolm managed a claim for unfair dismissal from an ex-employee. This was a complex issue over several months and evolved many letters to and from the ex employee. When this eventually ended up in an employment tribunal the court awarded in favour of our company and costs were awarded to our company against the ex-member of staff, saving us potentially large court costs and compensation had we lost the case.

We required the expertise of an external provider to help manage our health and safety properly and to help with accreditation to Safe Contractor, CHAS and Constructionline.

One of our best decisions was to use MSP Business Services for our Health & Safety requirements. Malcolm understood the challenges faced by a small business. He has helped us get everything organised and addressed all our health and safety objectives.

We now have a very detailed Health and Safety Policy, together with Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH assessments. Procedures are in place and we are now confident that we are compliant with all the Regulations. This has allowed us to move our business forward to the next level.
